EDDL 5101 Week 12 Activity 7:

Activity 7: Sharing Your Technology Integration Activity

Context: Grade 11 students are studying Financial Literacy. Over a series of lessons, students will explore costs involved with buying a car, setting up a home, finding somewhere to live as well as costs involved with attending college, saving over the summer etc. At the end of the unit, students will produce a personalized, balanced budget that draws on all of these ideas.

Activity : Students will be introduced to what a budget is, plan a healthy menu, shop for groceries and then refine and complete a food shopping budget.

Notes:

  • The lesson is hosted on Google Sites and students will be using canva to create a meal planner and Google Sheets to record their budget. All students have used canva before in class and accounts are free.
  • For the budget task, students will work collaboratively to determine an approx weekly food shop price that can be added to their final budget later on in the unit.
  • The lesson is designed so that it can be self-taught (for students working elsewhere or asynchronously) and all the resources are embedded on the site.
  • Their assignment is submitted via Google Classroom as per standard practice in this course.
