EDDL 5151 Week 6 Activity 1: Introduction To Identity Management

Scenario

A TOC is covering a lesson. You want them to be able to view the course, deliver the lesson and mark assignments but not edit the site.

Solutions

As there are numerous TOCs in the district, it would be impossible to create separate personas for each of them. Instead I would create 1 TOC persona (which would be emailed out when setting work) and this would be restricted to ‘Non-Editing Instructor’ in my shell.  This would allow them  permission to mark assignments but not alter the site.  If I need to, I can also restrict their access to particular groups.

The benefits of a non-editing teacher role include:

  1. non-editing teachers can only see the groups that they are in;
  2. the Dashboard only shows updates for their groups;
  3. they only receive forum notifications for their groups; and
  4. they can only mark the groups that they’re responsible for.
